Holy Trinity Church of England Primary School

To be the best you can be:for God, for others and for ourselves

Learning at Holy Trinity

At Holy Trinity education is about children experiencing the joy of discovery, solving problems, being creative across all areas of the curriculum, developing their self-confidence as learners and maturing socially and emotionally. We try hard to combine high standards with a broad, balanced, rich curriculum rooted in our local community and building on children’s experiences. We believe children do better when they are excited and engaged by their learning and for these reasons we are building and strengthening our curriculum to make it increasingly relevant to the needs of our children and to prepare them for the world they are growing up in: they are our future.

Literacy and Maths form the backbone of our pupils’ success in learning: our purpose is to give our children the essential basic tools for life when they leave us. We are committed to building on our strengths to serve the needs of our children using the skills of everyone in our school community: staff, extended services, parents, notable local figures and the church. We are committed to driving our own improvement, setting challenging goals for ourselves and recognising that we are all on a learning journey that is never completed.

At Holy Trinity learning is focused on individuals’ needs and abilities. We focus our teaching on assessment for learning, whereby we continually build a picture of our children’s development as learners, and share this with them, so we are able to design a purposeful curriculum that meets their needs. Teachers and Teaching Assistants provide a tailored approach to support children with specific needs, whether that is for children who have English as an Additional Language, have learning or other difficulties or who are gifted and talented. We will give extra support to children that need it most.

As a fully extended school we are committed to working in partnership with parents and we are building our systems for providing good information and advice. We work hard with our families to knit the school into the fabric of our community. This is richly supported by the range of extra-curricular activities we provide for our children and families, as well as joint activities with the church. We are a Children’s University and believe whole-heartedly in the extended curriculum to enrich learning and enjoyment.
